Iran Daesh doc to vie at Swiss fest

Iran doc 'Women with Gunpowder Earrings' by Reza Farahmand is to vie at 2018 Locarno Festival in Switzerland.

The doc will compete with other approved works at the Semaine de la critique which is an indie competition section of the festival focusing on the innovative works with grand content.

The film chronicles the arduous path a journalist woman takes to interview women who have been held hostage by Daesh militants.

The film has been acclaimed at the 2017 Cinema Vérité, Iran International Documentary Film Festival.

Founded in 1990, the Semaine de la critique aims to bring together a wide range of different works, each with a unique vision.

Launched in 1946, Locarno Festival has always been seeking out the cinema of the future.

The 71st edition of the festival is slated for August 1-11, 2018.
